Morning: the art of doing nothing, beautifully

The stay begins as it should: slowly. Breakfast in the château's dining room, soft light over the grounds, and that rare feeling of having time on your side.

The morning is yours. Stroll beneath the remarkable trees of the park, take a session in the fitness room, dive into the heated pool or unwind in the spa before the afternoon's adventure — in winter, it's the fireplace that sets the pace. Our Isère bed and breakfast is here for exactly this: giving you the space to slow down before taking off — perfect for a weekend getaway from Lyon or Grenoble, right in the heart of Isère.

Afternoon: at the controls of a DR400

That afternoon, at the time confirmed with the flying club, everything shifts.

Head to Saint-Étienne-de-Saint-Geoirs, just fifteen minutes from the château, where the Aéroclub de Grenoble Alpes Isère et sa Région (AGIR) awaits you, based at Grenoble Alpes-Isère Airport. Affiliated with the French Aeronautical Federation and an approved training organisation (ATO), AGIR is home to passionate instructors who have a gift for introducing the joy of flying — even to the most self-declared non-pilots.

The programme: the Vol d'Initiation Aéronautique (VIA) — an introductory flight experience. Allow between 1 and 1.5 hours in total, including 30 minutes of real flight time at the controls of a Robin DR400-160, with the Vercors massif, the Belledonne range and the Alps stretching out below — a breathtaking panorama from this unique midpoint between Lyon and Grenoble.

The session is carefully structured:

• A pre-flight briefing to get familiar with the aircraft
• Aircraft preparation alongside your instructor
• The 30-minute flight — you hold the controls
• A post-flight debrief to ask all your questions

Price: €175 per person — €155 for under-21s — payable directly to the flying club. This is an individual aeronautical experience in Isère: each participant flies one-on-one with their instructor, with no accompanying passengers permitted. Conditions as stated by the flying club: minimum age 14, maximum weight 110 kg.

For those who prefer to share the experience, the club also offers a discovery flight for up to 3 passengers, subject to the club's conditions — ideal for those who'd rather take in the skies together.

What if the weather has other plans?

The final call always rests with the instructor. If the sky decides to wait, the flight will simply be rescheduled — and the stay extends naturally at the château, in an atmosphere of ease, comfort and suspended time.

This is precisely why we recommend a stay of two to three nights to make the most of the experience. With several possible time slots, you give yourself every chance of taking to the skies in the best conditions.

Evening: back at the château

You come back different from a flight like this. The plain stretching out below, the Alps unfolding in every direction, the feeling of having held something vast in your hands. Dinner at the château takes on a different flavour that evening — and the night draws gently to a close in the warmth of the spa. Conversations change too, when you've touched the sky in the afternoon.
